I have been out of radio along time, i put my mobile unit away for over 15 yrs. It was stored in a 200$ pelican box so it was like a time capsule lol. Its a cobra 148f gtl extra channels plus many mods i cant remember i bought it in spring of 93 also an amp called a black widow dx 250 (looks like a texas star) funny thing it has 2 2879 transistors a dude at a radio shop said it was a 350 someone just put the face on, i bought the amp new its the original face, it would beat my texas star dx 350 v badly by 60 to 70 watts, the 250 has a 35 amp fuse the texas star had a 30? Again i bought it new like it is. Does anyone know about these i have it in an off road vehicle im going out and try it a bit ill take pics and possibly a vid i will be 101 opereator bob n.e. oklahoma give me a shout back would be awesome good day to all of you!

Maybe this will help, it sounds a lot like this http://www.cbradiomagazine.com/Amplifier Reviews/Texas Star DX350/Texas Star 350DX Review.html

Sounds like you should not have any problem getting out with that set up as long as you have a good antenna. I would like to have that old 148 myself. Happy DXing!
i have a wilson 1000 antenna first one i ever owned, they tune very well, i tend to tune high for channels above ch 40 for sideband and the thing still had an acceptable tune on the lowers very nice antenna, comes with a nice little cover to unscrew the antenna and keep dirt out. (its a modified offroad rig gets real dirty) the problem is mounting a radio, linear and power meter in the cab? Im having a radio built by lesters customs with a lescomm board other mods and a sx 350 magnum power case all in one. The radio he is building for me started as a galaxy 959 which my cobra 148f is better than any galaxy radio, but like i said its an offroad vehicle and id hate my 148f to get damaged

I fixed the link it should work now. Hopefully. It works for me now.
yes it worked i seen some old radios i still have somewhere i have an old ar 3500 100w radio somewhere the recieve was weak so its in a box somewhere lol i also have an old galaxy radio called a dx 88hl that works good too ive owned several galaxy radios and this one is by far the best one i ever had.

im at my shop now i wanted to post pics says pic files from my phone are too large?
Change the resolution on your camera (more pixels = larger file). You'll have to read your camera's operating manual. Mine has a resolution setting called "PC". Good picture, but you can't scroll in too far before it starts pixellating. Find a setting that the computer likes and use that setting when posting pics to this forum or just about anywhere on the Internet.

got to my shop this morning and my play toy 4x4 is the one ill put the radio stuff in the wilson antenna is taller than the top of the lift, here is the radio and the pelican box it was in since 98 hooked it all up with new antenna and works great! my question is the linear in the pic looks like a texas star to me it just says black widow dx 250 it does have 2879 transistors a guy at a cb shop long ago said it was a texas star dx 350 that someone changed the face on, i bought this linear new in like 92 its the original face plate, i never changed anything, is this a texas star amp? i had DX 350HDV this widow was the better of the 2 so its the one i kept

old school rk 56 too i love them mics

i have no idea as to how to mount this stuff the trucks see hardcore duty till something breaks then fix and repeat process lol overhead maybe? i own a machine shop ill make something

I made one out of rack that held 4 Plano box's that you store fishing tackle or what ever in an used Anderson connectors for the wiring an it sits on the seat , that way it's easy to remove an there is no place to mount it anyway .
