hey hey,

im new here and actually have a question that i was hoping somebody here could answer accurately. i just got a SEA ESP 520 www.cornerstonesmr.com/sea520.shtml CB radio thats out of a ambulance. After buying a adapter for my k30 antenna i realized i have to also found a way to get power because the person who gave me this radio, never gave me a power cord. so i was wondering if anybody knows where to buy this kind of power adapter or how i can fabricate one and wire it either through the vehicles power or through a cigarette lighter adapter. ill attach pictures of the back of the CB radio so you can all see the type of power it needs and the website above shows specs of the radio

Thanks in advance

I can tell you that it isn't a CB radio.
In fact, to use that radio is prohibited unless you have a license.
Find a nice Cobra radio if you want a CB.
There are many for sale from time to time on this forum.
Welcome to the forum - BTW...

Well, you could probably use that as a 220 ham radio if you can find the means to program it. However, if you plug it into that CB antenna and try to transmit, it might damage the radio. I would just put it up for sale in the Forum Swapshop or on Ebay and sell it. You can find those type of power connectors at auto parts stores and electronics shops, but if I was going to use that radio, I would probably just cut it off and splice new wire with butt connectors.

Anyway, as Robb said...that's not a CB.

As everyone is saying thats not a CB. In other words, you can not talk to anyone that will be on a CB even if that person is right next to you.

Lets put it in TV terms.
It would be like being back in the 70's watching TV on channel 5 and asking someone in the 90's if they can see the same program on channel 47.
Two different animals all together!

Plus you have to have a lic. to operate that radio.

And it may burn up radio with a CB antenna hooked to it.

I know I just said what everyone else did but just don't want you to burn up that radio or get in trouble or think your going to be able to talk to anyone by spending money getting it working.

That is NOT a CB..that radio cant even be set up to get anywhere near the CB band...CB runs at 27 megahertz and that radio works at 220 megahertz,as said above transmitting on that thing could and will get you in alot of trouble. If you key the mic and try to talk to someone you could be looking at several thousand dollars in fines and possable jail time

That is a commercal radio that is programmed for use in public safty in your area,in this case it is an ambulance company....As said above it might be possable to program that radio for the 220 mhz ham radio band....but you do need a license to talk on the ham radio bands.....

And yes you do need an antenna that is tuned to where that radio transmits at.....and if you do try to transmit without the proper antenna it is very possable to burn up the radio

We are not trying to be mean or talk you out of getting into the radio hobby,it is a good hobby that can be alot of fun.....we are trying to let you know what very well could happen if you decide to try to talk to someone on that radio

WOW! I'd like to get one just to listen.... never seen such a device. Yea that connector will work, but you will have to make sure the polarity is correct.. Same connector on my royce and I found an opposing end, but its was reverse.. Red - and black +.. easy way is use a condinuity tester on the chasis and find ground, opposing is hot.. Wanna sell that? Trade for a cb LOL

well thanks to everyone that helped out. im probably just going to sell that thing and maybe actually get a real CB. if anybody on here is willing to buy or maybe trade for a working CB that would be great.
