Good morning guys.

First of all, congratulations for this forum.

My name is Thomas and I discovered the shortwave radios recently.

As it says in the title I'm from Brazil where shortwave radios aren't so popular.

I have some doubts and would be extremely grateful if you could answer my questions, they are simple ones.

First of all: I really like to listen to radio stations from other countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Germany, is it possible with a shortwave radio?

Second: I like to hear some specific radio stations via streaming, is it possible to listen all of them with a shortwave radio or this device only allows me to listen to specific radio stations only?

Third: in Brazil these kind of equipments are expensive and if you want to import them from other countries you have to pay abusive taxes, could you recommend me some nice radios that aren't so expensive?

RADIOHAUS Radiocomunicao - A mais completa loja de radiocomunicao do Brasil

Might try here...local dealer in Brazil...best sometime to buy local rather than ship from outside your country...
Sangeon/Sony make nice portable SW equipment...just depends on your $$

All the Best

Google Shortwave radio....tons of info on who and where to listen...on-line and "over the air"

OUCH! The Local dealer is marking them up a little bit....
$799.00 for a Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver with Single Side Band Reception, plus External Plug-in Antenna.
The same radio here can be had for approx $150.00 plus shipping.

Jeff, Brazil uses the Real (pronounced REE-AAL) and it is symbolized by the R$. Note the prices on that site have the R in front of the $. The markup is high but not as high as you thought. R$800 = US$437.

US$1 = R$1.83
