Heres where I am on the antenna project

that looks nice . im guessing whats showing above ground is smaller than the actual length and width of the concrete base under ground ? how deep is the base ? any pics of the hole for the base befor the concrete was poured ?

Yes there is almost 2.7 yards of concrete with the 6 inches above ground. 4x4x4ft hole. Thata alot of digging by hand LOL.Its bigger underground than the size we framed the square on top. Bottom 6 inches is flared out abit to prevent rolling and I had rebar added but the specs for the tower did not say I had to. Also there was a big chunck of crete underground on the west side of the tower from a big sat dish that I butted up to. My bud has a pic of the hole on his phone. Its a Delhi DMXHD 48 ft free standing tower and using 2 inch 1/4 thick steel tubing for mast. Will be using a Yaesu SA800 rotator and A Maco 105 H/V yagi. 5 element dual polarity. Boom will be at 58 ft up when finished. 3 Ground rods and ICE products lightning protectors and a Alpha Delta 4 way switch. Going to try and use beta matches also. I told mama 1 tower and I wanted to try and do it right. Wanted both polarities even though 1 may work afuzz better. Tower and thrust bearing came to about 1250 bucks two years ago and for the build quality I am very pleased. Rotator will set on a plate 41 inches down from the top and was built in. Wish me luck!

I gave some info that was wrong. The top square is just a fuzz smaller than the hole but the legs are 30 inchs apart and the create is bigger than it appears. It is to spec. Just wanted to get the story right. I looked again and I was wrong.

Sounds like it ought'a 'do' just fine! Of course, it would work much better if it was in my backyard instead of yours!
And just for grins, while you're waiting for things to dry, add in a few dozen ground radials. Opens up all kinds of possibilities for rearranging things, different types of antennas, and added safety to boot. A really 'nice' ground system under an antenna never hurts.

(Ain't you glad you got stuff a year ago before the 'Change' hit the cost of things?? Wish I had done that.)

Yes stuffs going up all the time! Cost 200 dollars to get the tower trucked from Canada. Thats where I got it from. Its rated for 9 sq ft but I have beeen told they rate them on the conservtive side. I will have right at 9 sq ft up there. Will have about 3000 dollars or alittle better invested counting a great deal on a 60 ft JLG Manlift to use by the time im finished so thats why its took me awhile to get going. Just got alittle at a time. Down to just needing coax, rotator wire, and some grounding odds and ends. Im not putting up a antenna until this gets up there. That will keep me motivated LOL! :)

Gee every time your prices go up on goods from Canada my prices on goods from the USA go down. (y)

I think you will be happy with the tower. I told you about the professional rigger friend of mine that told me about the ratings of the Delhi towers. I have a DMX-40 which is not even a medium duty tower, just light duty, and it is rated for 3 sq. ft. It has had 6 sq. ft. on it on a high hilltop in hurricane force winds (cat 1) and no problems. It has had over 8 sq. ft. on it in a more sheltered location during Hurricane Juan which was a cat 2 at landfall. Winds here hit 90 MPh with a load of over 8 sq. ft on a tower rated for 3. Not bad at all. Your 9 sq. ft. rating will take that antenna system without flinching. I'm still hoping to get a new tower next year but have decided on the Trylon Titan series either the 56 foot T-500 or 64 foot T-400 series. I'm planning on over 14 sq. ft. plus wires hanging off it.

Trylon calls these light duty towers. :D

Nice!!! towers your looking at Kilowatt. I looked high and low but decided on this based alot on talking with you to go with the Delhi. Was looking at Universal also but am very happy with what I got.

Believe me I am more than pleased with what my Delhi has delivered to me over the years. The problem is that over the years I have outgrown it's specs by several times. I will only ever be able to afford one more really good tower so the time has come to pony up the $$$$ and put up a big one and use it for everything below 2m.The Delhi will serve for VHF/UHF for many more years. (I hope). I plan to also get the step bolts for climbing as well as the Cougar safety rail. I already have the caribiner and trolly for the rail but the rail may have to wait another year after I get the tower. The rail itself is about $800-1000 but then again what is a life worth? It makes it sooooo much easier to climb without having to hook/unhook two separate lanyards several dozen times in each direction.
