is there any way to filter out the interference i get from my HID headlights on my cb, all other lights are fine, but when i put the HID on, crackle crackle , and nothing else can be heard, what can i use to filter it out???

Try putting a .01uf or .1uf ceramic disc cap across the power leads at the light. You might have to use both or just one of them. You can also wind the power leads around a ferrite torroid, but you'll probably have to extend the power leads to do this.

il give this a try also, thanks, didnt realise the cb would be so sensitive
could you also explain exactly how to instal these caps, just the power lead???? or from live to earth??? and what voltage?

You'll find out that you will know where every dying transformer, traffic light switch, hybrid car etc etc lurks in your area.

I know all the 'hot spots' within a 10 mile radius that are bad enough to open the squelch even in FM mode on other bands.

Mobile noise is a bitch.

shadow, where exactly are you powering your CB from?

from the fuse block? from the accessory plug?
what is the negative wire connected to?

im thinking that since you are experiencing noise from multiple sources, that your cb power wires might be the culprits.

im running it from the battery direct, i have a ferrite block on the power leads. havent twisted it round it though, i know that helps, or could i put a dic cap on the power leads to help sort the interference

With crap HID kit you will get always noise on CB RX.
With Hella or factory Merceses HID's I never had problems.
From Chineese HID kits I had noise in 20m radius.
