Is there anyway to turn the brightness up on the mic ???

I am generally more concerned with the brightness of the operator than the mic.

if you are concerned about the brightness of the operators, check out 38lsb .
so there is no setting for it, thought so.
Thanks, for the quick responses.
iv been using the radio mostly on 2m and it works pretty good. the mic is a little tinny tho.

I think you'll get different results on HF. Has a lot to do with your voice characteristics as well. My voice is a perfect match for the Heil GM4 but may sound like schitz for someone else.

After some more QSO's my voice doesnt sound tinny they did something on there RX end. i really like this radio. figured out how to use pl tones split, just figured out the filtering (half of it). its a very nice radio. i got scared this evening the VFO knob went wacked like it was broken. come to find out the copper nut came loose and fell ( for some weird reason i spend most of the time turning it counter clockwise).... not sure why? it was an easy fix i used White teflon tape instead of the "green" locktite i have. i do have to ask while listening in on the childrens band why when people key up sometimes it makes a funny crack noise?....

If i could mount Heil Goldline GM4 in my mobile i would hihi

Have you adjusted the brightness control? I think default is 70%. Turn it up to 100% and it will brighten the lighting in the mic. You'll also need to adjust the contrast for the display, but that won't change the mic.

If you want the best transmit audio out of an IC-7000, here's a suggestion. Set the transmit audio to Wide position, and set the low frequency setting of the Wide position to 100 Hz. Close talk the microphone (one inch away from your lips),and set the microphone gain at about 7% for the average voice. And,if your were thinking about doing a microphone mod to increase the low frequency content, forget it,as this defeats the HM-151's noise canceling capability; something you don't want to do in a mobile scenario.

Yup tried that works good now. Yes doing the mod will ruin the nice nc.
