Looking for suggestions for a Multiband vertical around 28 feet in length. Prefer fiberglass. Ground radials are not an option. Need to mount 6 foot off ground and will be required to fold down when not in use. Any suggestions?

I was looking at the cushcraft R8 on eham reviews and saw some durability issues. Concerned numerous fold downs will reduce lifespan of the $500 antenna.

Longwire with a tuner appears mostly to require ground radials.

Not aware off any multiband verticals that are fiberglass. The construction of multiband verticals with the required loading coils, traps, and tuning stubs does lend itself to fiberglass antennas. Also any vertical should have radials, There are a couple on the market that say "No radials required" but then go on to say that performance can be increased with the addition of radials. A radial field is basically the other half of a vertical antenna and without it performance WILL suffer. Even a few radials are better than nothing. As for folding it over, that is dependent on what you make for a mount. One buddy of mine has his mounted on a short pipe with a heavy block of cement on the bottom. Storm approaches and Roy goes out and lays it on the ground. After the storm passes he goes back out and stands it up. The block of cement is heavy enough that the antenna will not fall over except in a really hard wind but he lays it down then anyway.
