How do you guys easily and safely pull radio knobs without damage to the knob and radio? im tired of the painful nails under the knob, screwdriver with a rag (radio dammage), pliers and a rag etc. I found some cool knob pullers online but they are all for bigger saucer style, bell style etc knobs, couldn't find one for the small cb/ham radio type knobs. Suggestions?

Sometimes I loop a piece of braided fishing line on the knobs backside. The two free ends are tied to a stick or anything I find to use as a grip to pull with. When using this method I try to pull the knob out just far enough to clear the face plate. At that point I let my padded flat head leverage the rest of the knob out by applying pressure close to the center of the knob as possible. Most damage is caused by prying around the outer edge. Knurled shafts that have been crimped are the worst. For easy removal later I always spend time afterwards removing those crimp marks with a small file.

I use the plastic screwdriver end of my tuning tool and very gently use it as a lever just to get it started - you don't want to create too much downward pressure though and it only takes a tiny bit of force to get them moving.

Auto Part stores or online shopping have "plastic trim removal kits" and that is what I use.
