All depends on whether you transmitter is wide enough to transmit wide band audio and the other operators receiver is wide enough to receive ESSB (HiFi SSB) the MD-200A8X mic has a wider audio response and costs more over the MD100A8X mic in part due to that fact.


Wider the audio bandwidth (Hz) generally the more HiFi like audio will be heard. Sometimes HiFi is not so good when there is a lot of noise present on the band and midrange audio may be heard better.


I really like the sound of the ESSB and HiFi AM operators, but my radio is set up for wide band audio receive and transmit along with a large studio monitor external speaker. You will not hear HiFi audio well on a 3" built in or similar sized external speaker.
