You hit the nail on the head. The mics I was referring to were the 100 a8x and MD 200.

I tend to be verbose and should've ask what difference is made by mics with a wider hz rating.

I've an ft 950 and it has a parametric equalizer built in and is capable of operating 3 khz wide bandwidth.

I've no interest in using a studio mic or outbound eq and will be going with either the 100 a8x or MD 200.

Any advice on the pluses and minuses of these mics when being used with an ft 950 would be appreciated.

I normally go with the idea that if it's more expensive it's better but I'm not sure if this is the best way to choose a mic for an hf.

For a cb radio especially the older one's I think the more pricier amplified one is a no brainier. I know I don't want to use the yaesu hand mic that came included with the transceivers.

I've hear hf's that sounded great with the hand mic that was supplied with it but I prefer desk mics and will be purchasing one for my ft 950.

Wheather it will be the MD 200, 100 a8x or another yaesu desk mic I'm not sure but I will be getting a desk mic. If there's a brand that's no yaesu that would and does make an excellent match for an ft 950 I'm open to all advice. Thanks 73
