I've been lucky over the years and not had to send any of my equipment in for repair. Could be that I don't keep things for long enough to wear them out..lol. There are a few pieces if gear though that I've kept over the years and my HR-2510 is one of them. I really enjoy using this old rig on 10 meters but it was starting to show signs of it's age during the past two years. The display was fading and becoming intermittent when it was cold. power output was ok but a little less than it used to be and the RIT got really flakey and too touchy to use. So, hearing good things about Doc's in Buffalo I called him and after speaking to him a couple times, sent the radio in for a "freshen up".

I got the radio back today and he did a great job on it. I've only listened to the audio through my TS-140 wearing headphones but it sounds great. Looking forward to making some contacts with it in the 10 meter contest.

The radio was re-capped, new finals installed, old glue removed from the board, variable output added to the SWR Cal control (which I never used) and aligned. The radio does about 45 watts pep on SSB now. He also changed the goofy power plug on the back to a standard 3 pin and added a nice small fan to the rear heatsink. The display is back to being clear and bright and once I re-finish the case this spring it should look close to new again.

He did great job with the radio and I wouldn't hesitate to send him another one. (y)

He did a lot of work on the radio including re-working the RIT circuit and ordering and installing the finals. I could have had it back in about three weeks but the temps in our part of the world dropped to below zero for at least that long and I had him keep the radio until it warmed up into the high 20's over the weekend. Old lcd displays don't do well in this kind of cold as I learned with my HTX-100. Cost was a little over $200 and I thought that was reasonable for what he did and how it turned out. The micro fan he installed on the heatsink was a surprise to me and no extra charge.

Doc must have called me three or four times during the time he was working on it to update me and talk about what he was doing and why and to get my ok. Who does that?

He said the 2510 is the only radio he is currently taking in for repair anymore.

He did my Lincoln years ago and it is top notch!! Big final chipswitch fan on heat sink!!
