HR-2600 is back!

Just an update on the HR-2600 I sent to 'Doc to have him work his magic on.

Had problems at first, this was due to the over driving of the hand held Saldelta echo mic that was on there. Called Doc, and he instructed me how to wire my Astatic 636l to the radio.

This radio is AWSOME! Superb on ssb, with nothing but excellent reports on it's tx'ing, and the rx'ing is fantastic. Only thing is, the way it is set up, I can't use the xt400 while on ssb. But, no problem there, I have talked nationwide barefoot @ around 50+ watts.

On am this thing is awsome also. Great reports with excellent modulation and clarity. Other stations from around the country say I am alot louder and cleaner sounding with the 2600 than I was on my Galaxy 99. It is doing about 45watts on am (on my Dee meter). I am now doing the 1000watts with the xt400 with this radio, (like it should). Who said the lincoln line of radios wouldn't kick some butt on am.

Send it to Doc and it will be lould and clean on am!

I highly recomend Doc for any radio work you all might need done to your radios. Especially the 2600, 2510 and Lincoln line.

Thank You Doc, a very satisfied customer, Hossless

Hossless,

Ditto on Doc's handywork. He did my 2600 and 2510 as well. Doc fixed my "Dail-A-Watt" on the 2600 so I can vary my SSB drive into my 900. I get a good clean 1KW on SSB and lot'sa flowers.

Hossless,

My President Lincoln Is At Doc's Right Now For One Of His Famous Tune Ups. Can't Wait To Get The Radio Back And Get On The Air For Some Reports ! Had A Question For You Though. Why Can't It Run With Your XT 400 On Sideband ? I Have The Same Amp, Mine Has The 12 Bias And A Sideband Delay Switch. I Had Kind Of Wanted To Use This Combination On Sideband Too When I Got My Amp Back. Thanks ! 8ZERO4 . CDX-804 .

All i can say is what is true about him and the President Lincoln radio and that is He is the BEST! I am very pleased on what he did to my lincoln and you can ask him what he thought of mine as well!! Mine is a super stroker and like no other!!!!

I don't know what the maximum SSB drive is for the XT400, but I think that is the problem that hossless is having. I only drive my 900 with about 25 watts SSB that I set with the "Dial-A-Watt" mod on my 2600 which is capable of doing 55 watts SSB which will overdrive my 900.

Hope this helps!

Now I have now knowledge over the 2600 but cant you just turn down your modulation from outside of the radio and drive the amp that way. To control power on ssb just turn down modulation.. Am I right?

Shadow, give Doc a land line and ask him. My xt400 does not have any mods, ie., class b bias, ssb delay etc. Just stock class c. Maybe that is why. Like Eduk8tr suggested, Doc might be able to do something to the "dial a watt" ???

Anyway, this radio is so awsome barefoot on ssb, I hope I won't need to run the radio on ssb with the amp. No problems on running it on am with the amp though. He was very helpful throughout the repair/re-do process. Even puting up with my ignorance...

It's funny, most everyone talks about how lacking the Lincoln line is on am modulation. With the right tech, it can be as loud and clean as any radios out there, in addition to being a fantastic sideband radio.

Keep in mind, barefoot on a Spectrum 1600 groundplane 23' in the air. Great reports. Talked to a guy barefoot in the West Indies the other day on sideband for about a half an hour. Can't wait 'till I FINALLY get the Moonraker4 up 40'

It's nice to see we are all happy with Doc's work.

Forgot to mention, the Astatic 636l does a really nice job with this radio.

Maybe one day I'll find a nice Turner +2 or +3 desk mike to go with it.

Hoss,

Glad to here you like it. I bought my 2510 from Doc and got super treatment from him. I talked to 251 in N Ireland with it in the Diesel Car off a lil Wil antanna...I would like to have dial a watt installed in mine I was having some problems with mine and the best way to describe it was what Marconi said....I sounded warbled and also on the receive....Got a hold of Doc and he asked if I had it on top of my power supply.....Yeap that is all it was... I also would like to get it chipswitched sometime.....But anyway enjoy that 2600...

Devildog and the rest, yes, all reports say it sounds like I'm over driving while on sideband with amp on. Even with all power turned down all the way. Maybe it's because it is a class c?? The ssb just drives the amp too hard, I don' t know.

Glad you like your 2510 Devildog!
