HR2510 Keys up with power.

Just as a follow up, it was Rogerbird that first suggested the insulator to me years ago when I was having a problem with another 2510 I had.
Don't know if you guys remember Yaesu Tom.
He also went down this road with these radios and removing the 38MHz pull off caps.
Caused all kinds of weird stuff, TX problems, high swr problems, feedback with the cover on that went away with the cover off and so on.
These things are really getting old, 1980's........
Now it is LCD displays that are "bleeding" , old parts and mileage that is causing them to get discarded.
I have the one Chipswitched 2510 left and a newer Lincoln.
All the rest got " retired"

They just don't last forever.

Wow - i remember him, Tom - whatever happened to him?
He was active years ago, but I have not seen anything from him for a long time.
Like these radios, we are not getting any younger.......
You know, another great radio tech that helped me many years ago was John Mahoney that had Panther Electronics.
I don't know what happened to him as well.

Wow, so I googled one of my old usernames yaesutom and this came up. I find it mind blowingly amazing people talking about me in 2020 and I haven't been on here in so long I forgot!
I did have a 2510 and remember some of what is discussed. Got out of radio stuff for a long time but getting back into it. The FCC banned me from ham radio in 2002 for pirate broadcasting...no regrets that waa super fun.

Been using some SDR stuff and playing around with MMICs lately i got for free from Analog Devices.

I honestly have been on so many different forums over the years I dont remember this one but now I'm curious to read my old posts if I can find them on here. What a trip..googling my old usernames. Most of what comes up are psychedelic drug Trump reports and radio stuff from the late 90s.

Hello Tom
Good to see you are still kicking.
Don't remember if you were on the Panther Electronics forum back in the day, or CB Tricks but I think you were.
WWDX has been here a long time in this format, and there was a even older forum that we evolved from that was started by Charger ( Dean) many many years ago.
Rogerbird used to be around a lot more back in those days too.
I still like , and use my 2510 uniden design radios, in fact a couple of weeks ago I had to replace the dial encoder on my 2510 as it failed after many years of service and would only step up no matter witch way you turned it.
Very glad to see you are still playing radio, and found your way back here.
Look forward to hearing more from you.
