What would be more valueable in most peoples eyes? I have a 2600 that is pretty beat up but works like a champ. The 2600 has the chipswitch installed. I also have two unmolested mint 2510s and was thinking of putting the chipswitch in one of them. So what would be considered more valueable? an unmolested mint 2510 or a mint 2510 with the chipswitch?

Just sitting at work bored!

I was under the impresion the 2510 didnt need the chip switch but im probably wrong. i know the chip switch allows you to do more things with the radio. you could put new covers on your 2600 and spiff it up. or you could put the chip in one of your 2510s and have 2 nice radios. this is why i got a whole pile of the darn things.;) some have chip switches, some dont, some have the channel conversion, some dont. just dont get rid of them cause there darn good little radios. im running a doc tuned hr-2600 with a chip switch and a turner + 2 as we speak.

IMO, 2510 stock. Save the chipswitch for another 2600 that you come across. Actually there was a nice 2600 on qrz for a real good price a while back that I would have bought if I had known where to get my hands on a chipswitch. I would like to have a 2510 again. I had one a long time ago but it developed a problem that started costing me more money trying to troubleshoot than it was worth.

How much are you will to part with an unmolested 2510 for?

I knew that question would arise!! Im not interested in selling them right now. I have 3 2510s and 1 2600. two of the 2510s are mint and the other works great but isnt much on the eyes, Id say about a 7.5 or 8, some would say higher but im picky!! The 2600 is in the same boat as far as looks but also works great! The one MINT 2510 has a dead FM rx problem and I havent investigated yet but Im guessin the FM discrimnator needs adjusting or the crystal is dead. Either way I was gonna use the 2510 thats "beat up" for parts or find a non working unit. If I sell one of the MINTs Mole, youll be the first to know. Iam gonna be selling off a bunch of radio stuff soon though to fund a TEN TEC 425 Titan AMP!!!!!

As far as lookin for another Mint 2600....Thats a good idea!!!

:thumbup:I would use the 2600 with the chipswitch and leave the 2510's alone. i have 3 (2510) myself and will not part with them, been down that road before ended costing more money to get one back. The 2600 also has a tone board for fm repeaters. Besides with the chipswitch and a few other parts it's pretty stable on 10,12 and wherever else you decide to use it ;);)
