A friend gave me his 2600 to look at that has no receive. It acts like the speaker is not working but you do get static on fm so the speaker is working. Any ideas?

I would get a service manual at cbtricks.com search no recieve at this site and replace the corresponding faulty parts. Sorry i can't help as i don't know how to repair radios.

There is a tech in Buffalo NY by the name of Doc. He specializes in the HR 2510, Lincoln and 2600 type radios. I will post a link to his website if it's ok with the moderators here on the board.

No transmit, no receive, no sound unless you go to fm then static. The display is kind of dim. I found the 8 volt regulator on the cpu board had about 2 volts output but I pulled it out and it seems ok. Hooked a 9 volt battery to it and it put out about 7.9 volts. Saw a faint wisp of smoke close to it and a coil L302 so I shut it down. Somethings is pulling the 12 volts down also a little and the that regulator was getting warm. I will keep looking. Does that 8 volts just supply the display and cpu circuits or does it go to the main board also?

The glue used to hold the regs to the CPU board can dry out and become conductive make sure the power is disconnected and carefully lift the regs lose from the board.very carefully clean the glue off the board and check the fine traces on the board under them for damage.sometimes just lifting the regs will bring the radio back to life. There are a couple caps over by the voltage regulator on the side that dry out as well but I am in the mobile right now and do not remember what board numbers.
The Glue and dry caps are starting to become common problems as these radios agelook for shorts/crossion anywere the glue is and carefully remove iti have seen it eat up the wires on the toriods in the back of the radio even.
Good luck.

The componets shown on the CPU are the most common failure points as well as carefully looking at traces that may have been damaged. By the glue..
His radio has a ChipSwitch mounted in a socket.....a factory radio will not...the CPU will be hard mounted to the board. I suspect in the case in the video that simply pulling and reseting the Chip would have solved the problem.
:ne question...is the Main voltage regulator getting hot ( this is the one mounted on the side rail of the main radio chassis )
All of this seies of radios except the latest. Linconls are starting to show there age both with the glue problem and caps going dry .I would suggest anyone that favors the older radios to go throught them and do PM......clean up the glue before it causes a problem and like the now older cobra radios think about re caping the radios.
Please forgive the typos....= am mobile and sending from my phone( damn tiny buttons and fat fingers)
