102 inch whip isnt gonna be good for 10 meters thats why I said the Wilson because I know these work good on 10 and he can still use it elsewhere not just 10 and if he gets himself a cheap antenna tuner or a Maco Model 91 300 watt Antenna matcher he can play with 10 - 12 meters ;)

An inexpensive LDG autotuner will work just fine on 20-10 meters with a 102" whip.
Not as good as a screwdriver antenna, but, pretty darn close on those bands. But, go lower and you need the screwdriver. But, with a 10 meter only rig, the 102" whip by itself will work. Just the whip and no spring. The spring will bring it down to 11 meters.
(around 108" or so) But, at 102" and properly installed, SWR will be nice and low over
a pretty broad range of frequencies.

Why wouldn't the 102 whip be good for 10m? I ran one for years and worked all over the world mostly with 25 watts and no more than 100 watts. It's not the most convenient antenna to deal with but as far as function it works well.

I ran a 102" whip with a Yaesu FC-40 auto-tuner with my FT-857 and it worked very well on 20m and up. On 40m it was pretty dead and forget 80m. Overall not a bad antenna system for a few bands.
