Hundreds of Michigan deer may be dying in disease outbreak.

Fewer vermin..I mean deer, means safer to ride my motorcycle in this deer lousy state.

This is what happens when deer are overmanaged. Mother Nature takes over and thins out the herd.

I don't deer hunt but I'm pretty sure you can take at least one deer every season in MI with every weapon from long gun to a rubber band and a paperclip. Yea...we have have a lot of deer.

I couldn't get to a salmon stream last fall in Newaygo to launch my Water Skeeter because a bunch of deer were blocking the launch area. I could have beaten one to death with a baseball bat..maybe they'll have baseball bat season this year. :)

We have battling the Chronic Wasting Disease ( CWD) with our Whitetail Deer here in Wisconsin and they even have extra weekends of hunting in areas listed as T Zones. They have been trying to figure it all out what causes it and there were several theory of what the cause was but who knows.

They also state in the rule book that if you see a deer with the symptoms which they explain in the book you should shoot that deer and call the local DNR and they will dispose of the deer after testing. The deer does not count against your deer carcass tags.

I personally have not seen one but have talk to people that have seen sick deer and its pretty much in overpopulated isolated areas. Its to bad this type of crap happens but I blame alot of it on the government and state regulations. They keep upping the cost of licensing for the hunting season and as we all know everything else also goes up in price amunition clothing fuel ETC. This 2 week regular season B.S. is stupid when theres a problem with overpopulation and illness being caused as an end result.

They need to do as Canada does and have a hunt season last 1 month rather it be January February or January this would leave a huge window of time for people to find time to get out and hunt and get the population down here in Wisconsin.

There are CKD (Car Kill Deer) calls everynight on the scanner here in my area so there are alot of Deer out there. As a matter of fact in my area of Wisconsin the car isurance is a few dollars more due to the volume of damage caused to vehicles by Deer on a regular basis as I stated earlier its everynight and these are just the onesd called in or reported.

Its in my county.....very sad.....I know a lot of country folk who depend on deer for food.

"The Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease, or EHD, is spread by small biting flies that infect the deer. The deer suffer severe internal bleeding before falling unconscious and dying just a few days after being infected. The deer often die close to or in ponds or streams, which they seek out as the disease worsens."

We humans don't like predators. (The non antenna type at least) So we kill them so they don't attack our livestock. By doing that, we as humans are now obligated to do the job of the predator. Simple nature.

If it bothers you that I am doing a wolf's job and killing bamby, then you need to look the other way. If you stop me from being a predator, then you are killing hundreds of bambys.
