I am looking at a new Antenna

I am looking at a new Antenna The MAGNUM-6CB look's like the one i would like to try.. I know two guys that have them and love them... What do you think about this Antenna????

Sure, it would probably work as well as a PDL2 and the price is nice. But to get real DX you need more elements - and that will get real expensive real fast - man.

Howabout a Maco 104C? $200 bux. Boom length is 19 ft - and works nearly as well as a 5 element. 48Db front to back - compared to 23Db for the Cubex. Your DX and watergates might suffer without better, man

I have a two element 5-band quad; never encountered a pileup I couldn't break with only 100 watts on any of the bands it covers.

Cubex doesn't use a gamma, it's direct feed.

my thoughts exactly.....whatcha gonna do with an antenna that ONLY handles 1.5kw??? bringing that direct feed quad up to 5kw handling capabilities would mess up the geometry that you're paying for in the 1st place. and only 1 polarity to boot.
they do say 'quads open the band and quads close the band', but ANYTHING(11m) on a 30' boom with a couple of kw behind it WILL get you heard......

Who said that?

They sell a transformer that only handles 1.5kw that doesn't come with the antenna, or you can use a 1/4 wave of 75 ohm feedline to get your match.

Oh, thats right, no sure what I was thinking, but it seems you hardly see the guys running big power using a quad, what is the reason?
