hey uncle groucho, that 148gtl is the same circuit as the 2000gtl so its a great radio. i think you should have kept one of the 2000s but at $400 each you did good. your 12a power supply is more than enough for the 148.
a texas star 500 is a nice compliment to it but you will need a 70amp+ power supply or a big ass battery and a good 10a+ charger to power it.
put up a sirio gainmaster antenna. its the best verticle there is if your power stays below 800w-1000w
put a gray base d104 tug8 mic on it and youll have one hell of a station
