Been without snuff for two weeks now. Didn't really want to quit because I actually enjoyed dipping snuff. But it got to the point my gums stayed raw and irritated. I haven't gone cold turkey I've had to use nicotine pouches, and nicotine lozenges but I try to go as long as I can without them so maybe I can kick those too. I've been up since 8 am and I just put my 3rd lozenge in my mouth at 8.15 PM. I think that's pretty good considering I pretty much keep a continuous dip of snuff in my mouth most days. I'll admit it's been nice not having sore irritated gums the last two weeks. (y)

My buddy does dip and offered me some one time. He would do it instead of smoking because the place we worked at was indoors. He didn't spit and swallowed it. I don't know how. I got myself a little spit cup from the water cooler and was good to go. For about 2 minutes. I was spitting in the cup like I was supposed to, but then I started feeling funny. The guys said that I was turning green so I spit that junk out. Haha!

Shoot yeah, stay at it my friend. It's hard being enslaved to a habit especially when it affects quality of life as in your case. Just do it, don't find a justification like humanity always does to feel better about something.

I was a 1 1/2 to 2 pack a day smoker until a life changing event happened to me in 2010. Been smoke free and sober since, not a cig or drop of alcohol whatsoever so if I can do that you can definitely kick the snuff.

I can relate to it making you turn green, I started dipping when I was 11 years old and threw up so many times I don't know why I kept at it, just a stupid kid I guess. When I started, Copenhagen cost 62 cents a can, didn't have to be 21 years old, just big enough to reach above the counter and hand them your money.

Don't let your gaurd down. It is usually pretty easy after a month or so, but stressful situations can get you in a moment of weakness, even years later. I hope it works out for you
That's why I haven't gone cold Turkey, I've quit in the past 3 months here 3 months there, 8 months is the longest only to slip up and start again heavier and harder than before. My gums are so damaged I have to quit, because I know deep down it's gonna get me if I can't quit. My dad chewed Red Man for as long as I can remember, he finally quit about 14 years ago, just had enough and quit. I may have to carry lozenges the rest of my life but I'm gonna try my best.

Don't give up. I quit smoking about 18 years ago. Cold turkey. I had quit several times before and I know it's hard. I wanted to quit but like you said, deep down inside I enjoyed it. It's hard to quit when you still have some cigarettes left in the pack. If there was some left when I went to bed, I would have to finish the pack in the morning. You have to throw it out the window driving down the road. Find something about it that makes you mad. For me it was that the price kept going up. I think you have a good reason to be mad at it. Get fired up and throw it out the window. When you get the urge for more, just get fired up again. It's not going to be easy, but you can do it.

7 days.
It only takes 7 days to flush the nicotine from your system. After that its purely a mental game.
I quit cigs in 2005 after 25 years of 1-3 packs a day. I used the patch for the first 7 days then sent cold turkey.
The main thing to remember is your brain will try to fool you into thinking just one dip wont hurt. Play a STRONG mental game. DO NOT GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO USE, PERIOD. Any time you get that urge you have to tell yourself you DONT HAVE PERMISSION TO DO THAT PERIOD and walk away.
If my weak ass can do it anyone can.

Caffeine, Nicotine & Alcohol.
Them three is married.

Less
is the real key.

Quit nicotine in your fifties after a lifetime and chances of senile dementia go WAY up.

No one consumes alcohol or coffee in their fifties like they did when in their twenties.
Apply the same to nicotine.

A friend of mine has started losing the weight the doctor has been after him about. And to quit smoking. Went down to a pack of smokes every three days versus 1.5/pack per day. Quit? No, thanks.

Do what works.
