Well my IC-7000 is on its way to Michigan to get the CI-V port repaired, it was working Great then the other day, nothing. Tried 3 different cables and two computers. The know good set up just wasnt working and I tried everything.

Just put the FT-857D back in the shack and have it all set up and running with the AMP, however with the ARB-704 I cant use the computer for rig control as bothe cables use the CAT port on the radio.

Anyway at least I have a radio to use while I am waiting for my beloved IC-7000 to return ...:scared:

how did you manage to break the CV – I port? Is it a week point on the radio? I am considering picking up a IC 7000 sometime in the future and just want to know if there are any issues to look out for on the radio.

That sucks, the last time I looked at your log on hrdnet is said you were on the air with a Ft-450 or something which I thought was wierd but I saw where it said you were on 40 meters USB and I am pretty sure most SSB on 40 is lower sideband. I just figured you were off the air putting up your tower. I hope your Icom returns soon

The FT-450 thing is the Demomatic on HRD, if the main HRD program isnt running some things in the DM780 wont work right, light the little highlight that pops up to tell you if your already worked a station.

The CV-I port, no idea what happened, the Tech told me it may have gotten a spike and shorted, but who knows. I cant think of anything that would have smoked it but it was definately a dead port.

The FT 857 D is doing great with the Amp, but using the ARB-704 interface keeps me from hooking the rig up to the computer, kind of a bummer. I could just hook up a foot switch for the amp and take the 704 out of the picture until the IC-7000 returns.

And of course I have Rigblaster issues yet again with HRD, I wish Simon would do something with the software. I doubt we will ever see any fixes or updates. Hell I would have paid good money for that software, I did donate $50, the software is worth every bit of that.

Seeing as though you have been having Rigblaster issues have you ever considered getting a device from RigExpert? they work right out-of-the-box. One USB cable to the computer and one adapter cable to your radio. You can make your own cable or purchase one from them. Here is the compatibility list. I hope this might help you. here is the website: RigExpert - Antenna analyzers, USB transceiver interfaces also here is the link to the North American distributors RigExpert - Distributors.:thumbup1:

I've never had the cover off my 7000 so I can't verify, but I have heard that the rear connectors are PCB mounted and have no support from the back panel of the radio. I was advised that when using it as a base to not angle it in such a way that it would apply pressure to the cables going into the back of the radio, or allow the cables to hang freely from the ports. Maybe one of the contacts on the PCB has a bad connection from movement? I haven't had any problems with mine, but all my cabling is suspended off a shelf bracket with plastic zip ties so there is no stress on them.

Well I have the FT-857D all sorted out now, Took the rigblaster pnp completely out of the works and I am using a straight cable from the speaker and mic to a din connector for the data port. I use my RT System cable for the rig control. All works well now.

I dont use the Amp for digital, so I just unplu the RT systems cable and plug in the cable for the 704 interface when I am doing Phone.

So I'll just deal with it until the 7000 comes home, I'll have to look at the way the cables were connected to it, there shouldnt have been any stress on them, could have just been a marginal socket to begin with.

perhaps,...... i do know of some 7k circuit board cracking issues ,if the cable is under any strain
