I've never had the cover off my 7000 so I can't verify, but I have heard that the rear connectors are PCB mounted and have no support from the back panel of the radio. I was advised that when using it as a base to not angle it in such a way that it would apply pressure to the cables going into the back of the radio, or allow the cables to hang freely from the ports. Maybe one of the contacts on the PCB has a bad connection from movement? I haven't had any problems with mine, but all my cabling is suspended off a shelf bracket with plastic zip ties so there is no stress on them.
