They drive by my house daily, push their carts ringing their bells.

Not to mention the pure insanity of going 2 MPH for hours on end, listening to that bell going DING...DING...DING...every two seconds. It drives me nuts just listening to it go by.

But how can this even be profitable?

Well, I don't think that these dudes are doing what John Brim/David Lee Roth was suggesting in that very suggestive song.

I think they make some money selling those frozen fruit juice bars from Jalisco MX. Yeah, I've seen those guys fresh from across the border. They are just doing what they can to live illegally in the US. I've never bought any of those goodies - but I've been told they are pretty good.

The lone miscreant vendor around here drives and old truck, looks 60's ish, has to be a gas hog. Fookin' wish all he had was a ding-y bell. Here they play those stupid mechanical songs....makes me wish me had a ye old rocket propelled grenade launcher. Makes me wish me had some giant trashy 2KW that MIGHT shut that giant noise toy down when he drove by.

Yarrg...me hates the ice cream truck. Helluvaway to make a living. Yummy delicious ice cream truck hell....Mmmmmm...ice cream

Much like Weasel, in my town we got the white trashy looking dude in a beat up 60's panel van with a loud speaker bolted to the roof playing that God awful merry-go-round music at 90 Db's....

You can hear him coming a mile away, and like Weasel I often wish I could dispatch that obnoxious vehicle with a firearm suitable for the task....

Over the bridge on the resort island communities, you got those poor high school and college age kids peddling around through heavy traffic, ringing that bell, they pull up to the street ends at the beach and ring an even louder bell to let everyone on the beach know he's there.
Over the last couple of years, many of those peddled ice cream carts have been replaced by even more white trashy looking dudes in beat up 60's panel vans taking over their routes. Much like the kid on a bicycle that used to deliver your morning newspaper has been replaced by some looser in an old Ford Pinto station wagon that flies around your neighborhood at 5:00 am tossing everyone's paper up onto their roofs, all while blasting Rap music from his car stereo......:glare:
