Icom Ic-746 And Yaesu Fl-2100

I have an opportunity to purchase both of these items for $950.00 cash and carry.
Is this type of radio a problematic high tech junker or a really fine radio?
The Yaesu FL-2100 good amp or splatter box?

Is the price good for both? Radio is $700.00 amp is $250.00

I assume this is a 746 and not the 746Pro. The 746 was made from the late 90's and ended around 2003. $700 is about the going rate for this radio (IMO).

This amp was made in the 70's. The FL-2100f does not cover 10m. The 2001B does. Neither model will do 160m (or WARC bands). It is good amp if in good condition . $250 is a good price if it is in good condition.

Remember when these amps were built the power was specified at INPUT power not output. This one spec'd 1200w input. Don't expect much more than 500w with good tubes.

Hopefully you can try these out before you buy them.

I know the 746 Pro model has display issues. A buddy of mine has one, and his backlight quit working. You can still see the display, it's just not lit up. Not sure if the 746 had the same problem or not. Tested and approved. It is now setting in my ham hutch and looking good. This thing is quite size-able, but I think I still get it in a mobile. Wife might have to back seat but at least she will be riding inside the car!

No photos yet. Too busy punching buttons and cranking the controls. I'm working on getting the antenna for it. This radio is the cat's a$$. Two meters all the way down to 160 meters. The wife keeps checking to see if I'm still alive since she doesn't see me. I'm testing all of the functions. She had to drag me out of the house to go for a motorcycle ride tonight. If you know me at all you know how serious that is!
