The PC here in the shack Died (hard drive) a horrible death...10 days ago
Lost a bunch of Amp Data...Manuals...Repair info...Blah Blah:blush:

Finally made it to FRY's....New SATA Drive...New Wireless adaptor...And will install New Back-Up external drive over the next couple days.

Lost my whole FAV's list of radiofun goodies...due to new OS installed,Win8.1...
But I'll find it all over time, hopefully once I learn how WIN 8.1 works vs. WIN 7 ....WIN 8 is really different!
Well glad to be back where I can spend a little time again....been watching from work but really don't like to post from there as everything gets saved on the Data Center Main Frame...<can not stand it>

Welcome back BJ. Hopefully you can recover your data from the old hard drive. Back in the spring I lost my laptop drive but after a new drive my IT buddy was able to retrieve about 95% or more of my old data. It took foreber for the drive to be seen by his bench computer but once it saw the drive it was relatively easy to copy and paste to a portable drive.

Hey BJ.
Since you're now running with Windows 8 and miss a real start menu, you really might like to try this:

Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements

Just built a computer out of spare parts for the big screen in the living room, and purchased a copy of Windows 8 online for $40/introductory price from Microsoft. Running the 'Classic Shell' made the OS behave much like Windows 7. This will help you familiarize with your new OS and its free. I recommend it, works w/o any glitches.

Actually I am doing quite well with 8.1. I have a lot of my FAV's list rebuilt and already installed the new back-up drive.
I was digging through this "Pile" of DVD disks I had on the self and low and behold I had backed-up a bunch of manuals, Pics and repair data that was on the old drive!(y)
Not all mind you but some.
So here's the system now:
AMD Quad Core 2.6Ghz
Western Digital 1TB SATA III 7200rpm w/64mb buffer
Wireless NetGear N900 450mbps dual-band adaptor
Western Digital 1 TB Passport portable drive
ASUS 22 inch wide screen HD monitor
Win 8.1 64bit OS

So hopefully I am good for a few years...:D

I am to be off on Vacation the last 15 days on this month so by then I hope to have the system..."The way I like it!"

Thanks All for Help(y)
All the Best
