Last week, I pulled out my Wilson 1000 (which I had replaced the coax on..and never figured out what to cover the bottom of the mag mount with).... and FIGURED out what to cover the bottom with.... and covered it. Glued it down with waterproof silicone sealer.
For years I have hesitated putting anything in the truck after having locks punched and a radio stolen in the park and ride lot in 2009.
Today..... it was time. I just wanted to hear radio noise in my truck!!!!
Put the Wilson up on the roof, put the JC Penney Pinto 23 on the console (just sitting, I don't have a bracket), wired it all up, checked SWR/PWR/MOD...and within 5 minutes was hooked up with "Bigfoot" a local right here in town. He tells me that there are several more regulars right here in town and a few more in the immediate area. Every night at 8 pm on 21AM they have a sort of a "roll call based net" that meets and just rag-chews.
So it appears that there are indeed a half dozen or so right here in my area.
