In search of Factory Service manuals from any Uniden/Cobra/Cybernet chassis to have on hand physically. Also same goes for any of the export chassis radios such as Galaxy, RCI, SuperStar, Connex, General, Mirage, NorthStar, etc.

Mostly interested in trying to obtain the 2 books published by Lou Franklin with all of this content packed into both. He offers a Uniden/Cybernet service manual book and a Galaxy 2nd edition updated book also. Tried to place an order through his website sometime a few weeks back and never received any form of email or notification of acceptance of the order. Does anyone know if this technician, author, and operator is still with us in the year of 2025 or has he become a silent key?

My very best regards and thank you for helping aid in my search anything is welcome!

Your best bet is obtaining digital copies of the service manuals and printing them out. A plotter is nice for the schematics but if you don't have access to one then most print shops can oblige for a fee. Cbtricks.org has a lot of info available. Also, @danmcclain has a thread here listing scans of Sam's manuals from his collection, many thanks to him. If you want a near complete all original set, be prepared to pay out the nose.

Idk about Lou, last I spoke to him was about 4 years ago. His main repair book ran out of print some years ago and I waited over 2 years for it to be printed again, the newest print being spiral bound which is nice. I have seen his book listed for $300+ on the bay during the "out of print" time, not economical. He wasn't in any hurry to communicate then, I think his spouse was sick. Maybe someone else can update on him.

I suggest buying a good laser printer, lots of toner and paper, some binders and scavenge the net for docs before they disappear. Good luck.

715 -

I have both the Uniden/Cybernet book, and the Galaxy book (1st edition). I can copy them, but need to get my scanner out and connected. Haven't had the need to use it in ages. I bought some things from Lou about 6 months ago, so I think he's still with us. A lot of the tuneup info/schematics for for early exports is in the SECRET CB volumes, which are available free online.
Info on the UK and Euro imports/CBs is posted on the Transmission 1 forum.
Most of what you are looking for is out there on the web. You just have to be patient and keep searching.
Doris Selman at Selman Enterprises (Secret CB publisher) had a ton of service manuals, schematics, and general CB info, and passed it to Bill Wentz (one-time Secret CB editor). He passed it to me when he got out of CBing, and got into guns and ammo reloading. A huge treasure trove of info. When we moved here, I put it all in 3 sealed containers. Haven't looked at it in forever. I have plans to pass it on too someday.
Good luck with your searching. 73

Thank you for the reply. Yes I wouldn't mind doing the research of the prints. I just know it would be much time invested and doors will be opening here soon sometime mid May for service. But Id much rather have the copies physical and I know it's much time involved printing these off. Thank you. It's also tedious jumping back and further between the computer monitor and the work desk. I appreciate your response.

Lou is a member here, he has not logged in for a long time.
I just sent him a direct message to see if he responds, will let you know.
Also some information is uploaded here as well

Jeff thank you for the reply and the outgoing message to Lou. I will pay him for his time invested making these books as well as would love a chat. Thank you for going out of your way to help another technician.

Best regards, Lenny

If you'd be willing I would absolutely love copies. I know it's time invested as well as materials which are only going up in costs these days but I would absolutely pay for your time and efforts. I may even be highly interested in those containers if you were to ever pass them to a young technician that will keep the hobby and craft going.

Best regards, Lenny

FWIW, I have a copy of Lou's "Construction and Operation, Tri-Power Mobile Linear Amp" publication from 1979. It's written very well with pics & diagrams.
Naysayer, I have a copy too along with one or two of the printed circuit boards along with input and output transformers, new 2290's....MRF421/NTE cross yeah the whole shooting match all but the desire to put it together. Could be talked out of I$t

Was my thoughts exactly around 2 weeks after I sent in the original order request so I hope all is well with him. Again I appreciate you trying to reach out to him.
