In search of rf limited utb-1 talkback board

There's a cobra 29 project that I'm gathering up parts for and the old rf limited talkback board is on the list. Does anyone here by chance have one that is willing to part with? I have an ebay search notification and haven't had one come up yet. I know it's a shot in the dark but worth if if even it's a miss.

Several months later and managed to locate a couple of these boards new old stock. The pcb's are dated 1999 so although they're new I might just recap them for better assurance.

You probably did already. Check with Bob at Bob's CB. If he does not have any new ones. He may have old/used ones he would let go.

You know it never crossed my mind to check with Bob's. That's a good idea! Only needed one but got a couple instead. If another is ever needed I'll take your lead on that one.

My advice to a OTR driver who wants variable talkback for this kind of radio is an external speaker with a talkback control. It gets the ground connection it needs by plugging into the PA jack in addition to the Ext speaker jack. Also allows you to put the speaker where it will minimize feedback howl.

Any radio that requires the mike plugged in to receive works with this type of external talkback speaker.

Where the UTB really shined was the RCI-style radios that would receive without a mike. It made the talkback vastly smoother, and usually a lot clearer to boot.

Made me wish I had a source for the high-power control used in the external talkback speaker. Couldn't find a catalog listing for it alone. Would have made installing talkback in that type radio a lot smoother.

I was just asking the same thing and ran across your post! I'd also like to get one of the modules, or a schematic for one. They look pretty simple to make, or maybe get a board from an amplified talk back speaker and put it in your radio.
