Who has or knows about the bigger Galaxy's that have the underside heat sinks with the internal fan?

How does the fan normally operate? Supposed to come on when the mic is keyed or has a thermal sensor and only comes on when it gets hot enough?

I'm not sure that the fan on mine has ever worked even from new, but need to know what the normal operation is.

Thanks

I tried looking at the schematic to see if the fan was running through some type of thermal controlling circuit, or if it is triggered through the transistor that handles PTT. The problem is that I didn't see the fan called out on the schematic. Look at how the power is hooked up on that fan...does it just go directly to 12v or 8v? If so, it's supposed to just run all the time.

Thanks M

I'm waiting to find out how it is supposed to work before I get into it to look around.

Many thanks!

i used to have a galaxy 98 vhp and i had the fans come on when the radio was ( off ). radio was in the sun in my rig. was a realy warm day. so i suppose the fans are on a thermostat type set up. the fans will come on even though the radio is off but has power going to it.
