Remote face radios

Just as an FYI, the CB bands down here in OZ are the normal USA style 27Mhz bandplan (very quiet, lucky to find 2 channels in use at peak time) and also 477Mhz FM (which the Uniden would have been one, there are also GME models with remote heads).

I'm surprised there are not more remote head 27Mhz radios, seem to me there would be a market for them in todays cars..
As you have noticed, remote head radios are becoming the norm in Ham kit.
Or do you guys in the USA all buy huge vehicles with enough room and a non-plastic area to screw in a mounting bracket or two?
