These radios are basically a Superstar 3900 with frequency display I had ordered one for a guy a few years back.

They do fairly well on AM and work on SSB, they tend to drift until warm like any Galaxy.You would have to decide if it's a good deal,I'd offer $100 and resell.

I had a variation of that radio some time back. Can't quite recall why I got rid of it. Might have been build quality issues or perhaps the sideband performance was not up to par, but then I tend to be really picky.

He is using stock photos and not pictures of the actual unit and that is always a cause of concern. Were it me I'd insist on pix of the actual unit unless the seller is very close by. If the radio is in decent shape you should be able to get it for $100 or $110. At that price I'd take a chance on it, but I'd ditch that cheap echo mike and use an RK56 or 636L.

They're actually a pretty decent mic as long as the echo is off or better yet, disabled.

If you buy that radio do yourself a favor and have it alligned or the Clarifier done if its not already or you will go insane with that clarifier. The one I had ordered I hade to allign and Im not sure whats with some of these manufactures not knowing what the hell to do with alligning the FM deviation. Which only takes a few minutes and we shouldnt have to even do on a new radio!!

i went to look at it and wellll it sounded well........ tired... the side band did not work.... well no receive anyway on ssb.

he did however have a ranger freedom with a usa flag face and an astatic 636flag mic that works great but is 100% stock and has never been worked on, i picked it up for $50.:tongue:

I always love it when someone runs an echo mic into a radio that already has echo. My first concern is why can't he post a pic of what he has for sale, not some sales pic off the web. I would offer him 40 bucks for both. Sell the fine 2018 mic and your even, then send the radio off for a repair. If you can fix it for under 50 bucks then you can turn it and make ano 40-50 bucks.
