Its time to get out of radio

I got in on this post late, but I'm glad you had a change of heart. I get out of radio from time to time, but I never sell my equipment (thank goodness) because I know eventually I would regret it. I usually take a hiatus because I get bored, not as many people on the radio as there use to be, or life just gets to busy and radio goes to the wayside. But sooner or later I'll see or read something radio related and I'm off and running again. And as someone said earlier I too like the vintage equipment something about a vintage President Madison just makes my heart beat a little faster, I've just purchased my first tube amplifier a few months back and I'm already thinking of buying another. Something about the equipment from back in the day? Maybe because when I was a kid all the grown-ups were talking on the very equipment that we now call vintage. Any who, again I'm glad you've changed your mind, and I hope you keep enjoying the hobby. At least at WWDX you have people on here that understand your frustration and your love for the radio hobby, CB and HAM NERDS UNITE !

Far in! Right off! (As the yeeth --plural of "youth"-- are wont to say.)
Just do not buy anything new. I have a collection of radios most people would consider worthless junk. I have lost track of how many radios that I have given away to someone that expressed interest in CB. Right now I am using a Midland 882B from 1976 as a mobile with the original Midland mic. I get enjoyment finding a CB at a garage sale, blowing out the dust and see if it will come to life. Last thing I picked up was a Royce 620 base radio. Again most people would say worthless junk. I works and I will seldom turn is from channel 19. My current scanner at home is a Radio Shack Pro-2001. Old technology is not for everyone. Hobbies should be fun, and not work.
You have to pick and choose what firearms you by carefully today also. Most new guns made seem like plastic toys compared to 30,40,50 years ago. If anyone mentioned they wanted to by a lever action today I would tell them to look for used Marlin, or Winchester from 1950s forward. Have fun my friend.

Quality radio equipment for 11 meters will most likely never be produced again, gone are the glory days of Tram, Cpi, Cobra, and others. The fad is over.

Don't feel a lone Buddy, I'm right there with you. Going to put my Uniden 980 in my car today because the Galaxy 979 appear to need attention. Getting sick of this game. I should have used the KISS theory. LOL
I've stated before I like the Midland radios. Just gave one of mine to a friends son as he stopped by and was traveling up to WA. Also gave him an old Antenna Specialist antennas after I put a new PL259 to replace the bad factory one. He had one of those wally world scanner antenna looking ones that didn't work. The radio was one I got help here doing some repairs on.
As for weapons, I like the steel variety as well. I have a lot of friends that like the plastic, and I do have 1 Grendel, and the wife has a newer smaller Ruger .380's with the laser, but she has bad back problems and couldn't carry the Chief Special anymore. But, steel is real. I stay away from the alloy ones as well.
My goodness, undertaker, all you had to say is, "I need a hug"... 
Unfortunately that seems to be the case especially with the rangers having the rt1 amplifiers built in. Last ranger I bought is the x9 and sad to say I'm almost afraid to run it because of the magic smoke that likes come out of them.
I too remember the days when we would buy radios, use them, and they not only worked but continued to work!

I've been sayings it for a little while now, the anytone chineesium built radios are sure working really well these days.
