I was wondering has anyone built one ?
Anyone tried more then two electrodes ?

How about 10kv @ 4 amps ? Hehe be one big spark !
I have a extra heater transformer but I am hesitant on building one....
When I was a kid I had a old am tube radio and was goofing around with some wires attached to the output of a transformer two wires touched made a spark ball the size of a basketball !! Then me and my brother used to take turns licking our first finger and timing who could hold the finger longer on our bedroom light switch buurrrn

The guy I got it from made one.

I built one with an oil furnace ignition transformer and two welding rods.

I never thought about that. They are a lot easier to come by than neon light transformers. The guy next door, actually two separate guys both neighbors, are burner technicians. I should hit one of them up and see if they have any old ones kicking around.

Oh boy does this bring back memories! My Father made one out of an old neon transformer and coat hangers when I was about 10 years old.
We played with that thing all the time, sticking leaves, broom straws and anything else combustible we could lay our hands on between the electrodes to draw the arc and watch them ignite.
Then there was that one fateful day when my dear departed brother dared me to stick my finger between the electrodes.

Welcome to electricity 101.

Gee. I miss my Father, my Brother and the Jacobs ladder.

He left us in 87 at the way to young age of 35 due to alcoholism. He was only 7 years older than me and we always got along great together.

Unfortunately, he inherited the gene that I missed.

Love your Brother and keep him near your heart my friend.

No headbang CKW. No apology necessary VS.

Death is a part of everyday life. We sometimes have no control over it and we sometimes make bad decisions that quicken it's arrival.

I always say the only stupid questions are the ones you never ask. :thumbup1:
