Just had a brief contact with JD1BMM on 20m at 160600Z APR 2009 from Chiba Japan. I just happened to turn on the rig and spin the dial and heard the CQ. I gave him 3x3 as he was tough to pull out and had some serious phase distortion, but we made it none-the-less. He was only there for a minute....

BTW - NASA made a press announcement recently that stated that sun spot activity is at an all-time low. The lowest count of solar flares since 1913 - as a matter of fact.

Despite this condition, I was able to talk to AZ and HI today at about 5:30PST. Also got a weak call back from MS shortly thereafter. But this was on 11 meters/27.165mhz using a radio that puts out 45 watts swing. Not bad - but not a Japan contact.
Nice Score - Mole!
I am just thankful for what I can get these days.
