It's not an amplifier. Pretty sure it's a Collins AM/CW transmitter.

Yep. Collins KW-1. He talks about it about halfway through the video. If you listen on 3885 kc, you might get to hear it (and Joe) on the air sometime.

I have talked to Joe several times on HF, for a while he lived here in Chicago and would occasionally get on local repeaters.
