I heard one of these on the air in skipland and google throws up nothing
no real reason, just interest.

Certainly is,mostly sold in Spain under the Jopix Brand.

The Jopix Itaca

Actually it is quite a bit different internally from the magnum although it looks and operates similarly with much the same functions.
The magnums and dragons etc are assembled in the Philipines and the Jopix is made in china by a different company.
So it should sound like a 257 too...which is good! The Latest bluescreen magnum audio may be a bit deeper with the bigger microphone....but I prefer the IRF finals of the jopix. Bit more output from the jopix but not enough to matter.
Personally I think this style (any of them!) of compact, cheap and "sweet SSB TX" type of radio is the best deal going these days.

dd18 yup everyone I talk to on air wont buy a radio that wont fit in to the dash hole front of the gearstick. I heard a dragon i think 257 on the air also, it sounded really nice.
