Thought I would mention that we get some incredibly high winds here in south east Tx!! About 40 miles from the coast. A 90+mph hurricane this past season. Along with crazy wind gusts almost every time a front blows through.

When I assembled my 2016, I used the plastic sleeves and screws. Blue loctite on the screws. But what I believe made it virtually indestructible was the marine grade shrink tube I used on every joint. Even over the big clamp on the bottom most joint. Think it was 2” or maybe larger tube.

I found out how tough that marine shrink tube was when I had a fiberglass stake out pole for my kayak that was starting the splinter. So I took some of that shrinktube and put it on there all the way down to the very point. Leaving a little bit of the point exposed. My first thought was that’s gonna get torn up by the oyster beds when I drive it in. Well that never happened. Looks just like it did 2 1/2 years ago when I covered that pole with that marine shrink tube. Tough stuff.
