Ok I do not usually own or buy AM only radio's. I picked it up for $59 so I could not say no all the parts are in plastic and the plastic film is still on the face plate. Not so much as a finger print on the back of the radio.

I am thinking about trying Goldfingers hifi mod's and thinking about trying my hand at hifi NPC type mod. I would love to hear some idea's though.

As I understand it these are the same as the Cobra 29 which has a great reputation.

I am thinking about using JPL995's compression module and selecting opti's to limit the positive peaks to 140% and negative peaks to 99%. Obviously I will filter the output.

I have a lot on my plate so I hope to get this done and ironed out in the new year.

Idea's are welcome.

One thing to keep in mind is that the modulation transformer will be a limiting factor for bass response, this may/may not be a problem depending on your definition of hifi (and there are quite a few definitions floating around). They can be made to sound real nice but if you're looking for that really wiiiide bandwidth Barry White audio they may not be the best choice.
