also remember that the audio you hear from the talkback is NOT what you sound like on the air, the audio you hear, is coming from the audio amplifier before it goes to the RF section of the radio.


depending on how your radio is tuned and swr will also effect how you sound on the air.


If you want to monitior what you sound like on the air, one way to do it is to get a second radio, turn the rf gain all the way down, short the antenna jack and plug in a set of headphones. Again, this is ONE way to do it, im sure their are many differnt ways.
