Thanks but I’m needing to know how to get the radio to receive since the mc85 has no receive circuit. I only want it to key up and talk. I’m not concerned with channel up and down functions or powering the mic from the radio. Thanks.First, welcome,
2nd, This should help.....
3rd, if you want all the functions, you're going to have to add a few wires and jumpers in the radio. Best I can do there is provide schematics.
There are a few on here that should be able to help. If not,Thanks but I’m needing to know how to get the radio to receive since the mc85 has no receive circuit. I only want it to key up and talk. I’m not concerned with channel up and down functions or powering the mic from the radio. Thanks.
Thanks for the link. If that adapter will work then it has to be a fairly simple solution, such as a diode or resistor or shorting the receive wire to ground or something… Maybe someone will chime in…. Thanks.There are a few on here that should be able to help. If not,
(You can buy this)
What goes on pin 3 of the cobra? Without anything on pin3 the radio does not receive….(no audio coming from the speaker)…. ThanksMy last attempt....I got nothing else after this......
TX = Red
MOD = White
Shield = Black
Common/Switch = Blue up/Brown down
Hopefully one of our gurus chimes in shortly.....
The wire connected to pin 6 on the Kenwood from the looks of it.What goes on pin 3 of the cobra? Without anything on pin3 the radio does not receive….(no audio coming from the speaker)…. Thanks
It is, look at post #6, it has both mic connectors, maybe you can give him more detailed info.if my memory serves, the 2000gtl is five pin, right?
The mic-85 doesn’t use pin6 like some of the Kenwood mics do. In the service manual schematic for the mic-85 it shows nothing going to pin6….The wire connected to pin 6 on the Kenwood from the looks of it.
Looks like #6 Kenwood would go to #3 Cobra.
