Kenwood ts-440 dots on display

Does anyone know why the Kenwood ts-440 displays dots?op:

That's the classic symptom of the dreaded TS-440S pll unlock. If it's not happening on all bands this link might help. There is a section titled "Possible cure for TS440 showing dots only on display". I've owned several 440's and have been lucky enough not to have experienced a pll unlock. It's not an uncommon problem for the old 440 to have.

Yupp I been there and done that with a 440 I had for several years its a common problem and as stated theres tons of info on this subject online
