I think the TS 430 440 450 all use the same filters.
I am guessing i can use my TS-2000 as a reference to what filter will soind like.

Matt:
I had one of these for 10-11 years.
I had the #88 / #89 / #94 / #96 All installed....That made a really great receiver!!!
Excellent would be a better word!
Buy the INRAD's they make the Kenwood filters sound like tin cans on a string by comparison. Pricey yes...but having had Both brands in the radio over time...
INRAD filters are superior!
All the Best

Ok well the radio has 3 spots for filters
2 for the 8.88khz if
And 1 for the 455khz if
So i am guessing you installed a 2.1khz and a 2.8khz in the 8.888khz
Removed the stock soldered in 2.4khz installed a 2.8khz in there. in the open 455khz 500hz cw filter spot installed a 2.1khz?

Actually the mod was done by removing the 6Kc Ancient Modulation filter to install one of the 2.8/ left the 2.4 then installed the other three in optional locations....
if you check the schematic, factory installed were a 12kc(FM)/ (2) 6kc and then the 2.4...
Been a long time Matt, but I believe that's what was done...
I had the FM filter the 2.8 / 2.4 and 2.1... on the 455 side
833 side...6kc/2.8/2.1....
After I got my FT-950 and the FT-990 the rig sit on the self for a couple years never used it so I'm using old memories. :)
Sold it(FT-450) when I got my ICOM 7000 and then sold the FT-990 when I got my FTdx-3000
(All happened about 2 years ago)...
A Ham that worked for Motorola in Ohio did the mod...So to keep it stock I would go with a 2.8 and the pair of 2.1's leaving the original 2.4... this would give you some good flexibility also, or both 2.8 an a 2.1...the 2.8's really gave it a nice sound!
All the Best
Gary

Ok cool thanks Gary for the info. That helps clear up some stuff.
What is the advantage in paring up the same filters on the 8.88 and 455 if's oppose to just running one at a single if?
The only thibg i can think of is multiple pass filtering but i dont see any other radios that do thar or just dont know of any..
