Has anyone found a decent schematic for this rig?
I have down loaded dozens of them and all have poor quality. To the point where they are not usable when looking at values and paty location.
If someone knows of a site that has a quality schematic please let me know.

Here is an example of what I mean.

One down 2 to go.
First one had a burnt resistor at R1 in the RF cage. Also d3 was shorted.
Also bent VFO shaft. All fixed now, Cleaned everything, tuned up and working like a charm.

Second one not as easy.
Very little receive. Marker signal is down also. Looks like I need to pull the RF board, give it a good soaking in dishwashing liquid. Have a feeling T1 is shorted. No problem fixing that.

LOVE my 520! Hope you get her going soon. But how the heck do you bend your VFO shaft? Was it dropped?

Trust me, mine works like a charm. These belong to costumers. They pick them up at ham fest, ebay, ect and bring them to me to be repaired or restored. Hence why I needed another schematic. My original was old, torn and just plain worn out.

The bent shaft.
This is how I see it. Was probably bought on ebay. Someone did not package it correctly so got damaged on shipping, sold at a ham fest then past own to others.

At the moment I have 16 HF rigs alone in for repair. 2 SB-220's and a Henry 2K. Plus other assorted rigs.
Keeps one busy

Just re-reading my post, and I hope I didn't make you think you were a doof and dropped your rig. I meant, how does a doof drop their rig and bend the VFO shaft. Didn't factor in packing/shipping, which certainly is a great way to damage these old and HEAVY rigs. I picked mine up at a club meeting, and had to chuckle that it came with DC plug/wiring... like people really ran these things in their vehicles??? The rig was so heavy, I was concerned about handling it by the carry strap. Anyhoo, I'm glad you are refurbishing these old rigs and getting them back on the air. I recently had a QSO with a fella running a TS-820 with the MC-50 mic, and he sounded fantastic. Made it even more fun that I was running my TS-520 that night.

btw AVVID should be back from vacation soon, so I should have the 430 repaired and back on the air shortly.

No worries bro. never even tought of it.
I enjoy working on these old rigs. Believe it or not back in the day guys really did run around with these things in their cars. But that was when you had plenty of room to hang these boat anchors in them lol.

I fired my 520 up yesterday and found an issue with it. S-meter works in receive mode but does not work in transmit mode. Thought the transmitter had failed but it did not. So get to work on it now. Then I will move it in the house with my old swan collection.

AVVID does good work.
