I ran a Larsen NMO27B on an NMO trunk lip mount on my wife’s 2003 Monte Carlo SS for a number of years back in the early/mid 2000s. Had a Uniden Grant LT radio mounted in her vehicle, and it worked well.
Our farthest contact from the base to her car was around 30 miles.
She even used the radio when she would travel, and answer truck drivers who called out to her, as her car was pretty sporty looking, and who can resist a blond in a bright red coupe ??? So it was a successful install and the antenna did quite a good job, and looked good on her car.
I had run that same antenna on my ‘96 Impala SS before I put it on her car, since I wanted a stealthy looking antenna on the Impala. My experience was good too, running an old Magnum 357 (100 watt) radio. I was able to work skip and ground wave quite well, so it is a good antenna.
