Seeing that i'm not happy with the way my 5 element gizmotchy works on a 16 foot boom (seriously!!???) i'm going to stretch the boom out to 24' and use Macos element spacing to see what we get. I looked at Hy Gains old "Long John" specs and they have their element spacing a tad different than Macos. What can i expect using either Macos spacing or Hy Gains?

What dont you like about your Gizmotchy?? I have a bnunch of antennas verticals and beams and will not part with my Gizmotchy. I love the thing I been running it 3 element and last month ordered the booster kit to make it a 4 element. I am going to add 1 element per year and will leave my feedback here as to what I see in changes. I have the 5000 watt ghammas and will also test this beam under hi power.

I was talking to Tom Charles last month and he was telling me in the near future they are planning on changing the Gizmotchy gammas over to the same gamma setup as their Maco antennas have. I do however want to get one of my other towers up over here and try my Maco shooting star out aswell.

I have this 4+4 star Jo gunn that needs a boom Im not sure what Im gonna do with it and thats a shame its a brandnew antenna and the noom was not in the box!! If anyone in my area is interested in this antenna and getting a boom for it I may workout a trade or sale. This Jo Gunn is an exspensive beast if you were to buy one this one is new never put up and everythings here but the boom. If anyone knows someone who has a boom for this from an unused or damaged antenna if the boom is staright Ide be interested in it.

All in all I love my Gizmotchy and between my Ham IV rotar Im running now and the new Yaesu 800 Rotar they dont and wont even know that 16 pount antenna is there ;)

The 5 element maco is a 26 ft boom. I really like mine but maco specs are more for gain than front to back. If wanting a strong backdoor you may want to have someone with a good modeling program help you out. There are a handfull of folks on here that could help you im sure.

Here it is for now....
Now before the nitpickers and naysayers have their way this is NOT the final deal. I'm just experimenting with the element spacing for now... I have a boom sag kit to go on it after its all said and done. I am in NO WAY an engineer or antenna guru im just an old red neck that likes to tinker on dem' 'thar antennies!!!! I downloaded EZnec once and i was so lost by it i ended up deleting it... Just too far over my head.....
