From one owner with most of the factory tubes still in place. A 170 Browning tube amp, the original Browning mike and it all looks and works like new.

Not to sound stupid but what does that do? I do keep the room open so that smoke does not linger

Smoke particles and other residue will eventually gum up the controls, will certainly make the equipment look and smell like an ashtray, and can cause premature part failure in extreme cases. This appliles to test equipment as much as radio gear, even more so in many cases. I do not allow smoking in my shop for that reason.

The nicotine gets into and covers everything with a nasty smelling sticky coating that attracts and holds dust and can lead tp premature parts failures.Besides that it is just plain gross to work on a radio owned by a smoker. The microphone is the worst.

The coating that will permeate the inside of the radio is also higroscopic, meaning that it will absorb water from the atmosphere. When this happens, insulation resistance decreases - eventually to the arcing point.

I've seen it happen.

It's your choice what you let happen to you, but somebody else might want your radio after...

......what DBT and QRN said is correct, to test for yourself, take a white paper towel and put a small amount of 91% Ispopropyl alcohol and wipe it across your computer monitor above the screen on the plastic a couple of times and look at the paper towel. That brown stuff ends up in your electronics.....including computers. Anyway, great find on the Browning equipment!

OOOOHHHH MY LORD YES!!! you should have seen some of the truck drivers radios Ive repaired here I wouldnt even touch them with bare hands and thats the truth I grabbed them with a towel and clean them before doing anything else thats no lie the honest truth. And some of the mics between smoke and food blown into the screens NASTY NASTY NASTY. That smoke will
cause havoc after time and that gold color residue it leave is not atractive I remove it with a ,mildly water down rubbing alcohol solution and electronic cleaner pads most mics are removed and sh!+ canned or returned to the owner for there cleaning or reveiwing pleasure. Just watch the smokey treats around the equipment and you will be ok just a lil thought take it for what its worth to ya. And nice rig looks like a little to much work fo me but Ive never ran one so I could be looking to far into it. But they are cool looking a deffinate keeper.
