Looking for a decent option for p25 phase 2 digital scanners. Prefer portable

Hey there my names Chris KE8ODY I've been passionate about radios, and scanners since I was a kid I remeber dad used to have old school scanners with crystals in them. Anyways I'm looking for a nice portable if possible that won't break the bank? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. All of my area in North central WV has went digital and I wanna start scanning again!

Most public service is going encrypted. The ones that havent are probably talking about it. I would first see what is available via mobile app because those that are not encrypted yet are probably being streamed online. That will give you a good idea of what you can hear. Even our local hospitals are talking about going encrypted because people like to listen to the scanner for medical emergencies because they know the entire family follows them to the hospital leaving the house empty and the crook knows he has at least an hour. There may not be much to listen to in a year or so.

Mine is several years old now. Other than needing a new battery I haven’t had any issues with it.
