I am looking for a quality 6" Stainless steel spring with the internal braided strap. Going to use this with a 102" whip.

Most of what I am seeing so far are chrome plated.

Anybody got a link to a retailer?

Thanks.

if you dont actually need the extra flexibility the spring will give the 102 i'd suggest a wilson 5 or 10 inch lower shaft for their trucker series and cut the 102 on it to proper tuned length . even on the SS spring .the copper braid will still corrode and fray over time .

that is what I did and it tuned to 1.1 flat without much effort..

Mmmmmm, I'm not familair with the Wilson shaft you speak of.

I am wanting to put a steel whip on my cherokee. It will be mounted on the right rear quarter. I have a 4" spring, but am looking for a 6" spring to experiment with.

So, your suggesting to use a wilson shaft and screw the 102" on top then tune. Then this will eliminate the need for a spring?

I was really wanting the benefit of a spring. I know DX Engineering sells the 108" and may go that route.

I will be using a Breedlove heavy duty ball mount with 4" backing plates. This setup may negate the need for a spring.

I believe the whip that DX Engineering sells is more flexible than a rat shack whip, but not positive. I have always mounted whips on bumpers with a spring, but this is new territory for me. I dont want to crease or buckle my quarter panel.

Length 4 3/16 all stainless steel, not plated... Hustler makes a Stainless steel spring for about $26.00

If you already have a 4' spring and want to add about 2 ' use the Stainless steel quick disconnect and the spring, no?

( the prices for the Mil spec springs on that site is  )

That sounds like the way to go. That way I can carry another whip cut for 10 and swap easily. Are the disconnects prone to any problems?
