Hi to all.

I am both sort of a newbie and sort of not.

I have a Sangean CS-818 which I have not used for many years.

What I am wanting is a way to record radio shows into mp3 recordings, mainly for shows which won't produce a podcast version (such as many shows on BBC).

Something that would do what the CS-818 does, but to mp3 instead of cassette would be ideal. A line-in recorder would work; I suppose I could use the CS-818 for the signal.

Some of these might be programmes which would come in via my iPhone, so I suppose the line-in feature is essential.

Any suggestions for someone who is not looking to spend a *huge* amount of money?

Do you have access to a computer with a "mic" or line-input jack?

A freeware program called Audacity will do this, pretty sure.

Heh.

Yes, actually.

When you were sending this, I was running a line from my iPhone to my MacBook.

It worked, but I think I may have had the sound output from the phone too high. I seem to have some distortion. (Need to play the file on better speakers than the MacBook has to know for certain.)

Good suggestion, though. Thanks.

What about using the Beachtek DXA Micro pro as an interface?
