loop dipole ??

i was looking at the link in Henry HPSDs' sig and thought the "Loop Fed Array Yagi" looked interesting .

11 meter DX antenna systems
LFA description

i was interested in the thoughts/opinions or experiences of folks here of making a tall rectangular dipole loop . what advantage or disadvantage would it have over a typical gamma matched dipole or a open circuit dipole ? would it be quieter/have less static ? would it possibly have better ears ? would it be directional ?

Copy and paste from another site.

"Another common place one can see dipoles is as antennas for the FM band – these are folded dipoles. The tips of the antenna are folded back until they almost meet at the feedpoint, such that the antenna comprises one entire wavelength. The main advantage of this arrangement is an improved bandwidth over a standard half-wave dipole.
The Length of folded dipole:
* La = 145 / freq ( MHz )
Length of coil :
* for 75 ohm cable : Lb = La x 0.8
* for 50 ohm cable: Lb = La x 0.66"

Just a folded dipole used as a radiator on a yagi, been around a long time in the FM side.

Using it as a yagi adds more weight, more wind resistance, but it does increase bandwidth.
